Farrowing box
The farrowing box is a small metal cage in which pregnant sows are kept for several weeks, usually from one week before delivery to three to four weeks after the piglet is weaned. The piglets can freely reach the sow’s nipple to suckle, but cannot prevent the sow from approaching the sow and cleaning it with the cage rod.
Farrowing crates for pigs provide ideal conditions for sows and piglets during the first few weeks of their lives. To this end, we provide a variety of products. In order to meet the special requirements related to animal welfare, the birthing pen can also be used as a freely movable pen. It includes a sow maternity bed, piglet nest/heated rest area, floor and fence.
The maternity bed can be closed before and during the expected delivery date, thereby reducing the risk of piglets being crushed. This allows the farm staff to keep abreast of the delivery situation and ensure that the piglets are protected. Open the maternity bed after delivery to provide enough space for the sow.
